International symposium

Shaping the future of animal welfare in Latin America

An international symposium on trends, industry collaboration and broiler chicken production

On April 12th and 13th, in São Paulo, Produtor do Bem will host an international symposium, bringing together the food industry, its global peers and stakeholders. Over two days, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities of developing and implementing a collaborative approach to improving farm animal welfare for the Latin American and global food industries.

Latin American food companies are increasingly investing in the improvement of the welfare of animals raised and slaughtered for food and other products. But the changes needed for companies to meet their sustainability objectives and the growing expectations of their stakeholders and customers, changes in benchmarks, legislation and regulation and the complexity of commercial animal agriculture, is making this effort challenging.

Our first day will include local and global experts discussing how changes in regulation, consumer behaviour and the expectations of investors and NGOs will impact corporate approaches to the issue. We will also hear how global food companies have come together to develop a shared vision for the food industry.

The second day will see animal welfare experts from industry, academia and civil society organisations discuss growing public and NGO concerns about the welfare of commercially raised broiler chickens. Finally, we will hear how global food companies have started addressing this issue as part of their work towards a more sustainable food system.
